Poor choice of words, chasing a feeling is probably better. I won't get into detail but I was in the Astral between lives when I felt the whole 60's thing happening. I tried to rush to reincarnate but arrived after it ended. It's likely that I wasn't alone in that experience.
Thank you so much for clarifying your statement, it becomes very interesting when you in-vest-i-gate and trace the energy of the who and why of the souls that were the hippies. I watched the documentary last night and found myself drifting in and out of present time back in time to then with a pretty solid realization that this "love generation" is still here, even those souls who got taken out are back. We get so hung up in age, identification with aspects of what occurred then that we get lost and don't see the bigger picture emerging.

It is good to analyze a generational attempt toward freedom though how much more effective we would be to actualize our selves in the present.

Where are all the protestors on the street? The music that moves our souls to dance and fly free? The deep plunge into love's embrace? The inner work of knowing one's own shadow? The sharing of each unique souls plight and light?

Right here, on the river. Right here in the flows within each of us, right here in the rising voice of the people, right here in the continuum of Life's eternal flow ...

Right here in the space between the words.

I was born at the start of the '60s, so I was too young to be a hippie. I was fascinated by them though. There was a commune close to where I lived and I would go and watch them hiding behind the trees... I was 8-9 years old at the time. My mother would always tell me to stay away as she was sure they would drug me. It is good that I was too young or else I probably would have died of an overdose somewhere in Kathmandu...

There were many communes who left the city and went back to the land in the early '70s. They became "granolas", as we called them, with a very healthy lifestyle. What was born in those years is still alive in many hearts. It may have been a false sense of freedom, but it subtly changed a lot of things in our world.

The notebooks of my teenage years were filled with "Peace and Love" and "Flower Power". I guess that makes me a leftover hippie...

Here, here - Christine, I couldn't agree more! And yes, NOW is what it is in it's lineage... as with all thats gone before.

Christine:
Innocence, such a cherished quality... one to be protected as we protect our sacred inner flower child, yes ... we were doomed to fail for then we knew not what we know now, and so the road goes on. The inner me is a hippie rebel to her core, she would do it all over again, oh! she is.

As simple as the message was then it is still the same today...

Here's an Audio Mix I made several years ago. I've just had a fresh listen to it and immediately remembered this conversation.

Enjoy!

LOl,

I've been called a post punk hippie when going to a production of Hair many years ago.
Me and a friend in our brightly colored hanging mohawks and old hippie clothes.

Great fun.

Anyway is this the hippie future?
In good hippie spirit.. I'll have what he's having.

A bit contentious but a development forward from the work of the author David McGowan who wrote "Weird scenes inside the canyon"

"Heart of Gold" by Neil Young ...

I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching for a heart of gold.

And I'm getting old.
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold.
I've been in my mind,
It's such a fine line
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold.

And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Keep me searching for a heart of gold.
You keep me searching and I'm growing old.
Keep me searching for a heart of gold
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.
