Here is a quick bit of info on how to research what frequencies are being used (openly) near you. Let me know if you'd like help with it. Part of my job in the former life was navigating the FCC website for registration information. It's all publicly available. U.S. Taxpayers fund the FCC. The FCC licenses (leases) the spectrum (frequencies) to the wireless service providers. You have the right to know who is deploying what and where. This is how you find out.

Being in the Uk, the regulator is Ofcom and seems to have information for each area. This one below is the nearest to me and is about 3-4mile away, there are about 10 clustered around that one area. The Mhz range seems to be 1800-2100. The TETRA (gwen equivalent) operates according to ofcom at 400 mhz, doesn't seem to be one within 10 miles but I am not convinced of that.
