The Psychic Conundrum of Awareness and Denial

Dear ones,
Some of you are aware of the work and biography of Temple Grandin, a woman who has severe autism but manages to advocate for those less fortunate than herself -- those without a voice.
One of the details that draws me back to her story over and over is the 'humane corral' Temple invented to calm cattle en route to the slaughter yard.
Traditionally such a cattle run was built in a straight line, where the killing occurred in full viewing the waiting animals. The more cattle, the longer the wait, and Temple empathized with these highly emotional creatures when she saw how panicked they became about the inevitable death.
She created a gently looping cattle run that provided a visual 'escape' for the suffering animals as they awaited slaughter.
Temple Grandin was able to See that knowing is not the same as accepting. Thrusting the ability to Know upon a creature or individual who has not been trained to deal with fear is one of the cruelest acts in creation. Letting someone know that there is no hope, no way out, no escape, no chance of winning.
