In case you're not familiar with Are You Being Served? (and points if you can match the episodes with the pussy jokes...and the writer was said to have told an interviewer they were always just jokes about cats and didn't know what this double entendre nonsense was about), here's a classic from another BBC sitcom, Mrs. Brown's Boys. A little racier (sort of) but equally engaging. Because you gotta laugh!!!
To set the scene up, Mrs. Brown and her friend (the one with the glasses) decided that because they'd had such a crappy day they'd do something different and try a brazilian bikini wax kit. Mrs. Brown (those other two outside are her daughter and son's friend) is counting the appropriate time before removing the wax.....and.......take it away!
I do like a good laugh, and I do appreciate "brit coms" ... but is the unfortunate turn towards "pussy" jokes rather necessary? Seems to me like juvenile "potty humour" ... inappropriate and bordering on offensive ... and takes away from the ambiance of an otherwise peaceful/loving place to be ... or, am I just not getting something and being a "sour puss" ... pun intended ...
You've given me an idea for an E store product with that Sour Puss thing
After all, sex sells..?
Brotherhood falls asunder at the touch of fire! He finds his fellow guilty of a skin Not coloured like his own, and having power To enforce the wrong, for such a worthy cause Dooms and devotes him as his lawful prey.
~William Cowper
(wince) Dianna don't give me that much credit. I just thought that given how tense it felt, maybe a radical shift into the absurdly comical would be a good step.
If I've offended, please forgive me. Never was my intention. If it's not appropriate, mods please remove.
I like it here, and I don't want to end up going in a direction that'll get me removed or worse.
hehe .. no worries Hermit .. I actually know you don't mean to offend ever ... I think I was just in a mood when I posted that response LOL ... and BTW, "absurd" and "comical" are two of my favourite ideologies ...
What's worth getting in a knot about, in the end?.......
