the C word

Post by Naga_Fireball »

Just curious about the actual roots of the varioys systems modern people call communism.

I was born kind of when Cold War was dying down into realization that 1984 was already here...

Brotherhood falls asunder at the touch of fire!
He finds his fellow guilty of a skin
Not coloured like his own, and having power
To enforce the wrong, for such a worthy cause
Dooms and devotes him as his lawful prey.

Naga,

I started typing and realized I would need to eat my breakfast and drink my coffee and get a modicre of work done because this post that I was about to write would take...for-f-ing-ever. Instead, I'm going to point you in the direction of a very, VERY easy to read work by the late Dr. Ronald Nash called "Poverty and Wealth".

And the best part (you're going to love this) is that the cheapest copy is selling for one cent. That's so cheap I bought a copy too!

https://www.amazon.ca/Poverty-Wealth-Ch ... onald+nash

Nash has a very, very interesting take on the divide between socialism and capitalism, namely that the entire argument begins on the false premise that we exist in a capitalist system in the west, when in fact we exist in a mixed-economy type system that is controlled by governments (and now, as we kind of guessed, corporations), that is in fact totally contrary to what capitalism actually is. The scarey part is that people who are disillusioned with the current system falsely believe it's capitalism, and figure socialism, or a more socialistic model, will fix things. Which is interesting because I keep looking at the race down south between the various candidates and keep asking myself....what is this supposed to be distracting us from seeing?
;)
