Yes, I have discovered deep tensions with inner body awareness practice. That must be a part of the pain body Eckhart Tolle has talked about. The tensions are normally hidden from the conscious mind, but pressure builds up subconsciously and release is needed and this often happens in the form of venting anger. If the pressure is suppressed then that's harmful for the health of the body, so the anger serves a purpose.Naga_Fireball wrote: We often feel good after engaging in cathartic physical activity, when we are upset, for example -- slamming a door, shrieking Ugh, saying F this, throwing a tantrum, getting revenge...
Unfortunately, after a pain body attack, the pressure starts to build up again, and new releases of anger are needed.
My current theory is that the tension is billions of years old! An amoeba in the ocean experiences the seed of the ego, which is to experience itself as a separate organism having to struggle with an outside environment. Through billions of years of biological evolution and thousands of years of social struggles, the tensions in the human body have become very hard and deep.
How to dissolve those deep tensions in the body? My approach is through mindfulness practice. I can easily see why monks need to meditate for decades! The ego cramp or what to call it, is absolutely immense. On the other hand consciousness is very powerful. And one idea I have is that the hidden tensions in the body give rise to confusion which in turn results in fear which fuels the thinking (and the pain body leading to anger). So all thinking has a false foundation (the ego belief in total separation).
So instead of accepting one's thinking it needs to be rejected. This can be done by putting conscious attention into the body until the hidden cramps are revealed and then awareness is put into the tensions that are revealed so that they start to dissolve. Easier said than done, but the whole ego foundation needs to be dissolved and replaced by the kingdom of God.
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." -- Matthew 16:24
Jesus was talking about denying the entire ego foundation. And the cross represents the ego tensions.
