Moral Depression vs. Economic Depression

Post by Naga_Fireball »

Dear ones,

As you may recall, part of our current president's campaign platform leaned pretty heavily on the idea that America is somehow caught up in some type of economic depression.

I'm no economist, and I'm no psychiatrist, but in spite of my limited scope of understanding, I must ask as a citizen, is this nation not morally depressed as a result of the 9/11 scandal?

Are we really going to just chalk up the misery of the last 16 years to Not Working Hard Enough?

Those of you who read the book Animal Farm will recall the hardworking draft horse, who believes so strongly in maintaining the faith of his comrades, he literally works himself to death for the failing system -- don't the pigs in charge actually sell him to a slaughterhouse? I don't remember! I just remember how sure he was, how much he needed to believe that his life was serving some higher purpose.

In my opinion a lot of the bums of America, the ones the so called conservative sector are so frustrated by, are simply refusing to participate because they know where the taxes go.

I believe that if we acknowledged openly our mistakes after 9/11 and tried to make some sort of apology and reparations, people would be less depressed in America, and we could get back on our feet again.

If we just let it fester (because 9/11 is too big to die naturally), people will continue to be sickened by the smell, if that makes sense.

If President Trump wants us to Make $$$, we need to first make it better. We can't just turn our backs on what happened here, and we certainly shouldn't be capitalizing on a lie when truth sells.

I hate to say it this way, but also,
It would seem that our country would perhaps rather sell the cure than prevent actual problems.

Usa has the advantage, temporarily, of accessing a resource pool that literally cheapens our ability to do war, considering winning war or profiting from it involves a process of overwhelming over time. That time varies based on numbers, firepower, and commitment.

Most countries take more precautions to prevent open war. America has gotten very used to the idea of imaginary payment for real damage. We do nothing to prevent war, we just try to steer it in directions that are convenient to whatever it is we are attempting to buy or sell.

We are not a peaceful nation because our leaders make more money pounding the cure into people's asses for the disease of unrest they manufactured than by healing the damage.

Sort of like a bad vaccine. 9/11 was something from which a lot of people stood to profit, and continue to profit.

I think maybe some would sarcastically call it a happy accident. We know it was no accident and that the people who were scapegoated for causing it were only about 5% of the story.

The rest of the iceberg that sank the ship of American Reason is conveniently tucked out of sight.

F that.

History teaches us that the most undesirable elements of society often wait for the opportunity of moral and economic depression before showing their true colors.

When the culture upon which they prey and parasitize can be blamed for the death they bring to it, they march forward.

Never do they build, never do they inspire; they can only destroy and reshape what has existed before.

The predator, becoming who he is, is summarily divorced from the body of humanity that contains also our collective dreams for the future.

He loses the ability to dream and can only reflect.
