Slave Owners vs Northern Farmers

Post by Naga_Fireball »

Of course nothing on earth is perfect. It is rarely ideal. But there are bits of truth to be found in nature when we observe.

As an east coast originated American, there are stories in my family of slave ownership (on one side) and then part of the family is from the north.

I don't want to hurt the feelings of the southern half, but did want to point out how much healthier the northern family seemed to be. The non slave owners tended to be taller, darker, quieter. I think there is a lot of native on this side.

Unfortunately the side that engaged in slavery, if true, were shorter & fatter, more susceptible to addiction, and aside from corporal punishment, were worse to their kids ie the helpless.

Many babies on the northern side died early but the survivors were typically healthy.

People dont enjoy talking about slave ownership, but unless it was a fluke, from my observations the non slavers were twice as healthy in three generations.

There was nothing artificially propping up their success, not until you get up into the industrialized part of the country where they did not live.

Of course in the northern USA there was a different type of slavery.

The early technocrats, the fruit of the industrial revolution, ruled the cities.

After a while, the south felt as oppressed by the economic strangulation as an island colony. Gone were the days of easy money and plenty.

In the end it was the people who knew how to survive a great deal of conflict living on very little income who helped America recover.

Sad that racism and such nonsense seems to rule today even when the truth is obvious.
